GUITAR

PLAY THE WHOLE RIG
FROM MIDI.

GUITAR is a modelled 6-, 7- or 8-string guitar that you play from MIDI in your DAW. It feeds the Complete Chain, so every note runs through Lifeblood, Monolith, Revenant, Spectre and Aftermath.

THE COMPLETE CHAIN INSTRUMENT

A GUITARIST
IN THE BOX.

Write a part on your keyboard or draw it in the piano roll. GUITAR picks it, frets it and plays it into the chain like a real DI.

The Complete Chain Instrument is the Complete Chain with GUITAR in front of it. It loads as an instrument, takes MIDI and plays the whole rig, so a riff you program sounds like a riff you recorded.

GUITAR / RENDERED FROM THE PLUGIN, WITH ITS OWN SOUND

EVERY FRAME IS THE PLUGIN

WHAT YOU SEE
IS WHAT PLAYED.

Each frame of the film is the GUITAR tab captured while the music played, and the sound is what the Complete Chain made from that MIDI. Nothing was played on a real guitar, and nothing was added afterwards.

BALLAD ARPEGGIO

A six-string picked string by string and left to ring, through the Crystal Glass chain.

DJENT PULSE

Tight chugs on an eight-string in F# standard, palm muted, through World Breaker.

SOARING MELODY

A seven-string lead with hammers, slides, bends and vibrato, through Copper Lead.

THE NECK / A CHORD RINGING

01 / THE NECK

SEE EVERY
NOTE LAND.

The neck shows each note on the string and fret that plays it, and the string swings while it rings.

Twenty tunings cover six, seven and eight strings, standard and drop, from six-string E standard down to eight-string drop D. GUITAR picks the string for each note as a player would, and FORCE STRING keys let you choose it yourself.

Click the neck to play it, and drag along a string to hammer, pull or slide. Shift-click plays a pinch harmonic, and Option-click or Alt-click a palm mute. AUDIENCE VIEW turns the neck round, as the crowd sees a guitarist.

CHORD turns one key into a power chord, an octave or a major, minor or scale chord. SCALE marks its notes on the neck and the keyboard.

02 / THE KEYS

EVERY WAY
TO PICK A NOTE.

Twelve keyswitches choose how notes are played, and twelve more add techniques. Each one is a steel key on the tab and a MIDI key below your part.

VELOCITY

Your velocity picks the sound: dead notes, three palm mutes, then soft and hard open. 127 is a pinch harmonic.

OPEN, PM TIGHT, PM MEDIUM, PM OPEN, DEAD

Lock one articulation in, from ringing open notes to tight chugs and dead strings.

PINCH, HARMONIC

A pinch squeal two octaves up, or a chiming natural harmonic.

LEGATO

A note played over a held one is a hammer-on or a pull-off, never a new pick.

SLIDE

The finger slides to the new note, a fret at a time, with the tick of each wire.

RE-PICK

Every note is picked again, as alternate picking does.

FRETLESS

Each note glides out of the last one on its string, with no fret steps and no pick.

The technique keys sit at C7: BEND 1/2, BEND 1, VIBRATO, HAMMER, SLIDE IN, SLIDE OUT and muted strums down and up. Held keys force a downstroke or an upstroke, CHOKE a ringing chord, or SCRAPE the pick along the windings.

Velocity zones are yours to move on the VELOCITY & KEYS page. The mod wheel adds vibrato, CC2 palm mutes as you ride it, and the sustain pedal lets notes ring.

03 / PATTERNS

32 PARTS
READY TO DRAG.

PATTERNS is a library of riffs, strums, leads and technique studies. Click one to hear it through your chain, then drag it into your DAW as MIDI.

CHUGS

Gallop, thrash, djent pulse, breakdown, bounce, seven-eight, nu bounce and groove.

STRUMS

A pop progression, a folk chuck, funk sixteenths, an offbeat skank, boom-chick, rock eighths and two arpeggios.

LEADS

A blues bend, a legato run, slides, tremolo picking, neoclassical fours, a soaring melody, unison bends and pinch squeals.

TECHNIQUES

Palm mute levels, harmonics, hammers and pulls, bends and vibrato, slides, fretless glides, muted strums, chokes and scrapes.

The patterns are written in strings and frets, so they keep their shape in any tuning. STRUM adds 21 right-hand patterns that follow your song’s tempo, from quarter-note downs to djent polymeters, over whatever chord you hold.

04 / THE SOUND

PICKED, FRETTED,
NEVER THE SAME TWICE.

Every string is modelled, from the pick’s attack to the pickup and the cable. Every stroke moves the pick a little, as a real hand does.

DI TONE

A three-way pickup switch for bridge, neck or both, NECK BLEND, the guitar’s TONE knob, pick attack and DI trim.

STEREO & FEEL

DOUBLE TRACK plays a second, separate take, with its own pan, timing and detune. Pick noise, string noise and note scoops come in amounts.

19 PRESETS

Rhythm, Metal, Lead and Fingerstyle presets set the tuning, playstyle, pattern and feel together, and you can save your own.

Humanize spreads velocity and timing a little, yet two bounces of the same MIDI come out identical, so a mix never changes under you.

05 / SET IT UP

AN INSTRUMENT
TRACK AWAY.

MAC

In Logic Pro, make a Software Instrument track and choose AU Instruments, JediPalm, then JediPalm Complete Chain Instrument. Other DAWs load the VST3 on an instrument track.

WINDOWS

The Windows VST3 of the Instrument comes with the next Windows update of the Complete Chain, free for every owner. Until then GUITAR plays on the Mac.

The Instrument installs with the Complete Chain AU + VST3 download, beside the effect: there is nothing separate to download or install. GUITAR appears only when you load the Instrument on an instrument track, not in the standalone app and not in the Complete Chain effect, which stay the chain for your own guitar. Your Complete Chain code or trial activates it.

Logic Pro and Cubase keyswitch maps come in the download’s DAW Maps folder, so articulations show by name in your editor. Step by step in the help centre.
